Isolated dislocation of the scaphoid is a rare injury with only a few case reports
in the literature. We report on 2 complex scaphoid dislocations demonstrating concomitant
axial instability with disruption of the capitohamate articulation as well as the
long–ring metacarpal relationship. Both of these patients underwent reduction and
fixation using a wrist spanning plate, which was removed approximately 2 months after
injury. Follow-up of these patients demonstrated maintenance of reduction, axial stability,
and return of painless range of motion.
