Myositis ossificans is a rare form of self-limiting heterotopic ossification of muscles.
Most cases are seen in the thigh; the standard approach to these cases has been nonsurgical
management awaiting spontaneous resolution. We report on a rare case of myositis ossificans
of the hand with severe symptoms treated with early marginal excision without a trial
of nonsurgical management.
