I have read with interest a paper entitled “Attritional rupture of the flexor tendons to the small finger caused by osteophyte of the ulnar head: case report,” by Hattori et al.1 The authors wrote, “We could find no previous reports of attritional flexor tendon rupture due to an osteophyte of the ulnar head.” However, in 1989 we reported a similar case with multiple ruptures of flexor tendons resulting from hypertrophic change at the distal radioulnar joint.2 Their case is similar to ours, including the existence of a sharp spicule of bone on the palmar aspect of the distal end of the ulna.
