Optimizing Volar Tilt Restoration and Plate Position in Distal Radius Fractures
Journal of Hand SurgeryIn Press Corrected ProofPublished online: July 14, 2022- Kristen M. Sochol
- Matthew Gluck
- Joshua McGough
- Michael Hausman
Cited in Scopus: 1Distal radius fractures are common and often treated surgically with a volar plate. A complication of volar plating includes tendonitis or rupture of the flexor pollicis longus (FPL) tendon. We hypothesize that failure to restore the volar tilt of the distal radius results in increased pressure on the FPL tendon. - Editor's Choice
Long-Term Outcome of Electrodiagnostic Values and Symptom Improvement After Carpal Tunnel Release: A Retrospective Cohort Study
Journal of Hand SurgeryVol. 47Issue 8p727–735Published online: June 15, 2022- Mirza Zafer Dagtas
- Omer Kays Unal
Cited in Scopus: 0The aim of this study was to evaluate electrodiagnostic studies and clinical outcomes after carpal tunnel release surgery in moderate and severe cases of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). - Scientific Article
Nonmarinum, Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Infections of the Upper Extremity: A Multi-Institutional Descriptive Report
Journal of Hand SurgeryIn Press Corrected ProofPublished online: May 28, 2022- Kevin J. Renfree
- Kelly L. Scott
- Thomas M. Polveroni
- Carolyn Mead-Harvey
- Holenarasipur R. Vikram
Cited in Scopus: 0We analyzed patient demographic factors involved in the development of nonmarinum, nontuberculous mycobacterial infections (NTMI) involving the upper extremity, and assessed diagnostic and prognostic values of commonly used preoperative laboratory and imaging studies, as well as factors related to recurrence of disease and patient outcomes. - Scientific ArticleOpen Access
Impact of Patient and Tumor Characteristics on Range of Motion and Recurrence Following Treatment of Enchondromas of the Hand
Journal of Hand SurgeryIn Press Corrected ProofPublished online: January 31, 2022- Lauren E. Wessel
- Alexander B. Christ
- Edward A. Athanasian
Cited in Scopus: 0The approach to the treatment of enchondromas of the hand is varied, and there is no clear consensus on graft source, fixation, or need for intraoperative adjuvant therapy. We reviewed a cohort of patients who underwent curettage and bone grafting with cancellous allograft chips without internal fixation or adjuvant therapy and reported on postoperative range of motion (ROM) and recurrence rates. - Editor’s Choice
Functional Recovery Following Trapeziectomy and Ligament Reconstruction and Tendon Interposition: A Prospective Longitudinal Study

- Oliver Miles
- Sylvie Collon
- Bradley Crammond
- David McCombe
- Stephen K. Tham
Cited in Scopus: 3Patients undergoing surgery for trapeziometacarpal (TMC) joint arthritis require preoperative counseling on the expectations of surgery. This study aims to document the objective and functional recovery over the initial 12 months following trapeziectomy and ligament reconstruction with tendon interposition (LRTI). - Scientific Article
Dorsal Bridge Plate for Distal Radius Fractures: A Systematic Review

- Benjamin R. Childs
- Michael M. Polmear
- DesRaj M. Clark
- Leon J. Nesti
- John C. Dunn
Cited in Scopus: 4This study presents patient demographics, injury characteristics, outcomes, and complications associated with dorsal bridge plating (DBP) in the treatment of distal radius fractures. - Editor's Choice
A Prospective Randomized Trial Comparing the Functional Results of Buddy Taping Versus Closed Reduction and Cast Immobilization in Patients With Fifth Metacarpal Neck Fractures
Journal of Hand SurgeryVol. 45Issue 12p1134–1140Published online: July 25, 2020- Natalia Martínez-Catalán
- Samuel Pajares
- Lucia Llanos
- Ignacio Mahillo
- Emilio Calvo
Cited in Scopus: 4Although fifth metacarpal neck fractures are typically treated nonsurgically, most often with closed reduction and orthosis immobilization, cast immobilization may not improve outcomes compared with buddy taping without reduction. The aim of this study was to compare functional outcomes of buddy taping versus reduction and cast immobilization in patients with fifth metacarpal neck fractures. - Editor's Choice
